“Profiling the Enemy”
MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND INDUSTRY,
SEATTLE, WA
Objective:
Recreate the panic and fear inspired by the witch-hunt-like Canwell Hearings of the 1940s.
Services:
Concept development, scriptwriting, multimedia and software design and production.
Description:
Two visitors transform into the hunter and the hunted: the accused communist must answer the charges that the interrogator lays at her door and answer invasive personal questions. The script is comprised of actual questions from the Canwell hearings blended with current questions related to the Patriot Act. The soundtrack of courtroom noises heightens the drama, and the accused feels the hope drain from the room with every damning answer. Finally, the persecutor delivers the sentence: innocent or guilty!
