They learn how to trust their crew and make tough decisions as they trail an enemy surface vessel at high speed through shallow, uncharted water, without running aground or being detected; or, trail a potentially threatening enemy missile submarine, first confirming its identity by matching visual and sonar contacts, then trailing submerged while carefully avoiding detection; or trail an enemy attack submarine, maneuvering to avoid detection or collision during enemy’s extreme maneuvers.
